We joined the UN Global Compact in early 2015 and have published public CSR reports annually ever since, highlighting our commitment to doing business in an environmentally and socially responsible way. This year, focus was placed on environmental action, promoting the idea of a “Sustainable Lithuania” and addressing supply chain challenges.

Girteka Logistics continues its strong commitment to the UN Global Compact and the Sustainable Development Goals, working in coordination with our dedicated 20,000 employees,” says Edvardas Liachovičius, CEO, Girteka Logistics.

Mobilising our resources

Girteka Logistics is aware of its ongoing accountability for the social well-being of the population it serves as customers, colleagues, partners, and the community at large. As a responsible business the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact are incorporated into the company at every level.

We see the positive impact our actions have not only in the company, but in the wider community. Leading by example with our key road safety message, working alongside the Lithuanian Swimming Federation and a continued focus on sustainability and customer centricity.

Safety for the community

A major focus for us continues to be to raise road safety awareness. We actively invest in and participate at events and campaigns throughout the year to educate and inform road users and pedestrians on how to stay safe around trucks, with initiatives such as “Be Safe on the Road”.

Road safety is at the heart of our company, and with 18,000+ truck drivers on the road we try at every possible opportunity to be the best in the industry for our drivers and for the well-being of the community,” Says Simonas Bartkus, Head of Marketing and Communications at Girteka Logistics.

For many years, the Lithuanian Swimming Federation (LSF) has been implementing the project “Learn how to Swim and Behave Safely in the Water”. Working with the LSF we are supporting their efforts to encourage parents to teach their children how to swim.

The CSR Report also highlights how Girteka Logistics is expanding its intermodal rail network. Overall, the company more than doubled the amount of FTLs it carried in 2021 compared to 2020 covering 5% of our total kilometers via intermodal transportation, this saved 8 million kg of CO2 during the year.

Our key goal of our Sustainability Policy is to carry out 20% of our long-distance kilometers by intermodal transportation by 2025.
